About the show
In March 2026 it will be fifty years since the tragic death of Paul Kossoff. Kossoff…The Band Plays On intend to commemorate Paul’s life and music in a series of very special shows. Paul Kossoff, the guitar prodigy, aged just 25, tragically died in March 1976 - but his music lives on. Kossoff was (and still is) revered by music fans and fellow musicians worldwide. Joe Bonamassa, Brian May (Queen), Gary Rossington (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers / Government Mule) are just a few of the guitarists influenced by Kossoff. Kossoff…The Band Plays On will feature the very best of the Free and Back Street Crawler back catalogue. The band is fronted by Terry Slesser, formerly lead vocalist with the band Beckett then chosen by Kossoff to front the band Back Street Crawler. The line-up includes some well known musicians, making this show way beyond a mere ‘tribute’ act. Guitarist John Buckton embodies the sound, soul and rawness of Koss' playing, and it’s no surprise that Free drummer Simon Kirke has said: "If Free were to reform, John would be my first choice as guitarist." Paul Kossoff had his own unique style, and it lives on in John Buckton’s fretboard. Also included in the line-up is powerhouse drummer Clive Edwards formerly of UFO, Wild Horses and Lionheart. Highlights will include Free’s world-wide hit and rock anthem “All Right Now”, “Fire and Water”, “Wishing Well”, crowd-pleaser “The Hunter” and “Molten Gold”; one of the first tracks Slesser and Kossof
Featuring
Kossoff...The Band Plays On
Forty years on since Paul Kossoff, one of Britain’s finest guitarists, tragically passed away at the tender age of 25 in 1976. Singer Terry Slesser, the voice of Kossoff's critically acclaimed post-Free band Back Street Crawler, and a close friend of Koss, keeps the memory of one of the greatest British Blues guitarist and his music alive. Sless has chosen the guitarist John Buckton, of whom Simon Kirke said "If Free were to reform John would be my first choice as guitarist", to play a series of special dates reviving for the first time since the 70s the catalogue of Back Street Crawler songs as well as favourite Free numbers. Also included in the lineup is drummer Clive Edwards (UFO, Wild Horses, Pat Travers) and highly respected keyboard player Mark Taylor (Elton John, Simple Minds, The Alarm).
