Raised in Portsmouth and now based in South London, Hotel Lux have carved out a niche with their gritty, observational lyrics, and a sound that blends post-punk with pub rock swagger. Think The Stranglers, Nick Cave meets The Beautiful South, with a dash of Ian Dury theatrical bite.
Debut album "Hands Across the Creek" is a bold statement — full of clattering guitars, funk-tinged basslines, and politically charged storytelling. Tracks like “Common Sense” channel the energy of trade union movements and media critique, while earlier songs like “Daddy” and “The Last Hangman” dive into darker, more unsettling territory.
"The Last Hangman" appeared on the "Peaky Blinders" soundtrack, which says a lot about their cinematic edge, and has racked up 2.5 million streams on Spotify.
They’ve played with bands like Shame, Fontaines D.C., and The Chats, with their live shows known for being raw, raucous, and deeply engaging.
New singles "Another One Gone", "Costermonger", and "Nod (To the Retrospect) are out now
Support from Blue Stragglers who are a fuzz-drenched alt-rock trio from Horsham. They’ve been quietly building a reputation for groove-heavy riffs, hook-laden songwriting, and a live presence that’s pure sweat and swagger.
Opening the evening will be fast rising indie The Dazed Minded
Hotel Lux
Hotel Lux are an English band. Playing live and residing in London via Portsmouth, the five piece have been road testing their songs of dissatisfaction since 2016. Influenced less by bands than the world around them and the film works of Shane Meadows amongst others. Hotel Lux design a landscape of council flats riots, Job Centre Plus and pints of Guinness, whilst their music lends itself to social commentary and picking holes in those who deserve it. Debut track ‘Envoi’ found support from titles such as Clash, Loud and Quiet, Dazed and So Young Magazine. And new music pioneer Matt Wilkinson gave Hotel Lux their first radio play on Beats1.
