The highly acclaimed big band, led by MD Ken Parr, Remarkably, the seventeen piece band is celebrating it's fortieth year of performing across the West Country and beyond.
Following its formation in 1983, the band rapidly built an enthusiastic following in the West. In 1985 it was chosen to play the role of the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 'Little Brown Jug' at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter.
AJ's Big Band
This highly acclaimed 17 piece band has built an enviable reputation for its authentic recreation of the big band classics of the '30s and '40s and is undoubtedly the South West's premier swing band. Since its inception in 1983 by the late Alan (A.J.) Hempstead, the band continues to sustain a high reputation, blending great ensemble work with exciting jazz solos.
