Boo Hewerdine with support Hannah Angharad

Whitehouse Sessions (Stroud) presents the first in our Autumn series of live music events BOO HEWERDINE

Boo Hewerdine was the first ever gig we put on (Totnes 2010) and we're delighted that he'll be the first ever in this new series of live music events in Stroud.

For over 30 years Boo Hewerdine has been considered one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters. As lead singer of seminal band, The Bible through to his subsequent solo work and long-time collaboration with the incredible Eddi Reader he has become something of a national treasure. He is in demand as a writer, producer and performer. Over a hundred of his songs have been covered by the likes of KD Lang, Kris Drever, Chris Difford, Heidi Talbot and Hannah Rarity. His last album ‘Before’ was recorded with supreme Danish multi- instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren. It garnered multiple five-star reviews.

Since then, he has released a lockdown EP, Singularities and a new album on Reveal Records. On this tour he will be singing songs from his new album and his extraordinary back catalogue. A naturally gifted raconteur his gigs are always a total joy.

Hannah Angharad will open the evening - a Stroud based singer-songwriter who draws from the great folk and Americana writers of the ’60s and ’70s. Her songs—haunting deliberations on love, loss, and death—are shaped by her battles with addiction and bipolar. Both witchy and baroque-esque, she is a bold truth-teller who marries melancholy with memory.
