Stamford Shoestring Theatre present BAKKHAI By Euripides
A new version by Anne Carson
A modern retelling of Euripides’ most subversive play, Bakkhai relates the story of a world in flux.
The stage is set for a night of chaos. Rumours are spreading of a debauched cult raucously celebrating the emergence of a new deity.
Enter Dionysos – Greek god of wine and son of Zeus. He has come to the mortal world with one purpose: to destroy the family that dared deny his divine heritage.
Bakkhai presents audiences with a bold, contemporary take on sexuality, family dysfunction and power. Hedonism and violence abound as taboos are questioned and the boundaries of society are pushed and threatened.
BAKKHAI is presented by special arrangement with Paradigm Talent Agency
