Merlyn Driver

Merlyn Driver is a singer songwriter from the Orkney Islands in the north of Scotland. He is currently based in London. Merlyn didn't attend school as a child and instead spent much of his free time exploring the natural world and making up songs in mysterious and largely fictitious languages. From a young age he's been fascinated by different kinds of music from around the world and combines his songwriting with studies and explorations in sound studies and ethnomusicology. With a unique style drawing upon a diverse range of influences, Merlyn writes music inspired by the natural world, ecology, and the longings of an islander living in London! He is currently working on his debut EP alongside 2015 BBC Folk Awards Winner Ben Walker and several other collaborators from the UK and further afield.
