The Hall Players
The seeds of the Amateur Dramatic Society we know now as "The Hall Players" were sown in about 1960 in Preston, Lancashire, when a group of St. John Baptist Church parishioners performed a series of plays at the Broughton School Hall. This helped to raise funds for construction of the Parish Hall where all our plays were held until recently. From these early beginnings grew the idea of forming an amateur dramatic society and this was agreed at a meeting held in the Parish Hall on 7th March 1961. This was followed by the first committee meeting held on April 12th in which the decision was made to call the society, "The Hall Players". On this historic night it was decided that the first production would be the comedy "Quiet Weekend" by Esther McCraken, to be presented in November 1961.
