Note: this is a change to the previously advertised film ? due to new licensing restrictions Amadeus is now unavailable ? this replacement is now the last of our 'Films at 50' celebration weekend films (see Special Events page).
In 1981 French director Jean-Jacques Beineix wowed audiences with this stylish thriller set in Paris. A young opera-obsessed mailman is unwittingly dragged into a murder plot when a cassette recording gets dropped into his postbag (like this film, cassettes are enjoying a present-day revival!). The ensuing multi-layered tale develops at breakneck speed. A taut and engaging screenplay, great music, and cool Gallic styling make this newly remastered classic of world cinema a fitting culmination to our weekend celebration of 'Films at 50'.
Ticket price includes a free glass of bubbly and nibbles. To allow for a short interval, note that we will be starting the film at 7.30pm.
