Charlie Noordewier - Plymouth Boat Show

Devon-hailing folk singer-songwriter Charlie Noordeweir releases his brand new single Little Miss Sunshine, ahead of a support slot at Sam Fender’s 40k capacity show at Whythenshaw Park, Manchester this weekend. The track is the third in a series of 4 singles that are steadily cementing Charlie as a generational great in the UK Singer-Songwriter scene.

A push-pull tension of deep love amidst self-destructive tendencies, Little Miss Sunshine skirts catharsis and care through cutting lyrics and ascending full band arrangements. Charlie’s voice, pained but uplifting, is one that stops you in your tracks on first listen, evoking the edgy but emotive tenderness of the likes of Elliot Smith and recent folk star Ben Howard.

Produced by Joe Atkinson and Dean Thompson, members of Sam Fender’s touring and recording outfit, the single was made during an immersive week of day and night jams at their North Shields studio, where Charlie camped out beneath a constellation of speakers and mix channels between soaring live takes of his introspective songwriting.

Following the release of Little Miss Sunshine, Charlie is set to launch a live video of a one-take performance shot and recorded at Deep Litter Studios in his Devonshire homestrait, part of a wider film that demonstrates the innate virtuosity of Noordeweir’s musical ability across his 4-single-series debut output.

Charlie’s music is shaped by an unstoppable graft that sees him drive cross country on regular whims to play amongst local trad folk greats as readily as he is able to shine on stage at stadium support slots. Developing a highly anticipated and stellar songbook of releases whilst enchanting audiences nationwide, Charlie is set to have a breakthrough year.

Charlie Noordewier

Growing up on the edge of Dartmoor, Charlie’s musical journey began at local jam nights alongside his grandad, who introduced him to a rich mix of folk, blues, and soul. By his teens, he was playing in bands around the South West, and at just 17, hit the road with The Native, touring relentlessly across the UK and Europe all while juggling part-time work as a chef. Over the past two years, Charlie has stripped things back, reconnecting with his roots. Escaping in his van on days off, he’s been playing to anyone who’ll listen, rediscovering what made him love music in the first place.
