About the show

Calling all Agatha Christie enthusiasts! In 2026, the English Riviera’s Palace Theatre in Paignton will host an unforgettable adaptation of one of Christie’s most captivating murder mysteries: Towards Zero. This thrilling production, brought to you by Bijou Theatre Productions, is part of their esteemed annual Agatha Christie run, a tradition that has delighted audiences since 1984.

Towards Zero promises to be a mesmerizing journey into the human psyche. This production feels like opening a long-locked door. The intrigue begins not with a murder, but with the intricate web of choices, grudges, and tensions that simmer beneath the surface. Expect a gripping examination of jealousy and the subtle dynamics at play, as the story unfolds in an atmosphere charged with suspense.
The Plot Unfolds

Set against the stunning backdrop of Gull’s Point, the seaside residence of Lady Tressilian, the story invites you into a house party where Neville Strange finds himself torn between his ex-wife, Audrey, and his new love, Kay. As tensions rise, the stage is set for a chilling exploration of human emotions that leads to a shocking and brutal murder.

Originally adapted for the stage by Gerald Verner, Towards Zero first premiered at the St. James’s Theatre in London in 1956. The play beautifully captures the essence of Agatha Christie’s writing, and its connection to the Devon coastline - the inspiration behind the fictional locations of Saltcreek and Gull’s Point - adds an authentic touch for local audiences.

The Palace Theatre's annual Agatha Christie run attracts fans from around the world. It is always heartwarming to hear how the murder mysteries of ‘The Queen of Crime’ hold strong memories for audiences.
