About the show
For the people of a village near Azerbaijan’s Talysh Mountains, it’s been over thirty years since they’ve were able to watch a film. Movie-going is a rare privilege in that part of the world.
Samid, an elderly villager, seeks to revive the tradition, which involves sourcing a new bulb for their crumbling Soviet era projector. Not an easy task in these remote mountains one the border of Asia and Europe.
With the help from another generation in the shape of Ayaz , a 16-year-old teen who’s skilled in animation on his phone and more than eager to help – they work to make Samid’s dream a reality.
DOCS+, our community film series in Oundle, is delighted to bring you this story of reviving a community cinema 3,200 miles away.
