Igor Stravinsky Suite
An imaginative programme of lesser-known works performed by award-winning Fenella Humphreys and Martin Roscoe. Melancholic and impressionistic pieces by Arthur Honegger, Rebecca Clarke and Dorothy Howell date from the 1920s. Adrian Sutton’s Violin Concerto, written for Humphreys, won the BBC Music Magazine Premiere Award in 2025. His short Eulogy receives its world premiere a few days prior to the performance at Lakeside. The concert concludes with Stravinsky’s suite from the ballet Pulcinella.
Fenella Humphreys
Acclaimed classical violinist, concerto soloist and chamber musician who has performed at such prestigious venues as London's South Bank Centre and Cadogan Hall and the the new Helsinki Music Centre. Fenella's solo and chamber performances have included broadcasts for BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, DeutschlandRadio Berlin, West-Deutsche-Rundfunk and BBC and Canadian TV as well as appearances around Europe, North and South America, Korea and Israel. 'Fenella Humphreys's performance is a wonder' (International Record Review) '... Fenella Humphreys is a top-notch violin soloist, producing a pure, sweet tone of piercing beauty...' (James A Altena, Fanfare Magazine) '... Fenella Humphreys is one of the few violinists with the guts and temerity (and the technique demanded by the music) to play Sibelius's chamber music... Sibelius's Opus 81 (1917-18) allowed Humphreys to demonstrate her complete absorption into this magical melodic world...' (Edward Clark, Classical Source).

Martin Roscoe
Distinguished recitalist, now head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. He has performed six concertos at the BBC Proms, made more than thirty CD recordings and over four hundred broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. 'Martin Roscoe is a versatile pianist, equally at home in concerto, recital and chamber performances. In an ever more distinguished career, his enduring popularity and the respect in which he is universally held are built on a deeply thoughtful musicianship allied to an easy rapport with audiences and fellow musicians alike' (RNCM). 'Roscoe is a pianist who both thinks and offers full-blooded playing of breadth and depth. In this country, he is an uncommon creature' (The Daily Telegraph) 'Thrillingly done with the electrifying soloist Martin Roscoe' (The Guardian) '... Roscoe at his most dazzling, employing a huge dynamic range and changes of mood as swift as they are convincing … It would be difficult to overpraise Roscoe's accomplishment' (International Record Review).
