Nick Wiseman-Ellis hails from the pretty little English town of Norwich and now resides in Germany while Karen Tweed spent about 5 minutes in London, England before heading off everywhere and landing in Orkney, 59 years later which has now become her home.

Nick and Karen met in Newcastle and share a love of accordions, traditional music (where their passion coincides with Ireland and France) and creating. . . in the form of music, knitting and drawing.

Both are respected teachers, composers and arrangers; Nick now plays with IONTACH in Germany and Karen has collaborated with Timo Alakotila in May Monday, SWAP, The Poozies and top jazz accordionist Karen Street amongst many others. They are both thrilled to be performing together in small intimate venues in the UK in July and their concerts promise great merry-making and perhaps another approach to accordion music. As soloists they are celebrated for their virtuosity and musicality. Together they are wacky and mercurial, elegant and sublime and bring you memories you never realised you had...

Karen Tweed

The most sought after piano accordion player in the country, Karen is described as mercurial, subtle and astounding. Her travels uncovered a love of Scandinavian music and the traditions found in the northern hemisphere which she continues to thread into her love of traditional Irish music and the music of the British Isles. She is currently exploring composition, connecting the creative energies of drawing, woodcarving, stonecarving, calligraphy, knitting and weaving with her music writing. She has worked with The Poozies, Kathryn Tickell, The Two Duos Quartet and SWAP.
