A Louisiana native, Gill’s journey began as a busker living out of Volkswagens between the streets of New Orleans and the Pacific Northwest. Immersed himself in the rich tapestry of American folk music led him to join the ranks of the Nashville group Old Crow Medicine Show, whom he worked with from their van-and-trailer days to Grammy triumphs and induction into the Grand Ole Opry. In 2015, Landry left the band to pursue his solo creative endeavors.

Across six solo albums on various labels, he reveals a remarkable versatility and unwavering commitment to his craft. With an ever-evolving voice and rich poetic lyrics, his compositions defy genre constraints, seamlessly blending styles that can range from a cinematic grandeur to intimate introspection.Collaborating with a diverse array of esteemed musicians over the years, Landry’s crafted a body of recordings that resonate with both timelessness and innovation.

Gill Landry

Gill Landry is a two-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Louisiana. Prior to releasing his first solo album, Landry and singer Woody Pines formed an old-time jug band called The Kitchen Syncopators in New Orleans, LA. Starting In 1998, the group toured, busked and issued a number of self-released albums before calling it quits in 2004. When Old Crow Medicine Show's founding member, Chris Fuqua, went on hiatus that same year, Landry was offered the job as his replacement and remained a full-time member and contributing songwriter even after Fuqua's return. Around 2007 Landry was signed to Nettwerk Records, which released his solo debut, The Ballad Of Lawless Soirez. A mix of gritty, blues-inflected folk tunes and rootsy Southern Americana, he followed it with 2011's self-release Piety & Desire, which featured guest artists like Brandi Carlile, The Felice Brothers and Jolie Holland. A pair of Medicine Show albums followed in 2012 And 2014, after which Landry Released his self-titled third solo outing on ATO Records in early 2015, which featured a duet with Laura Marling. Spending much of the following year touring as a solo artist, Landry returned in 2017 with the moody Love Rides A Dark Horse, released through ATO in the USA and Loose in Europe. Landry is due to release his fifth solo album, Skeleton At The Banquet, in January 2020 via Loose.
