Celebrating 35 Years of Pills n' Thrills and Bellyaches

Happy Mondays

Originally signed to the influential Manchester label Factory Records, the Happy Mondays formed in 1980 with a sound that owed as much to northern soul and funk as it did rock and psychedelia. It was, however, the influence of the house music records beaming in from Chicago that had the most profound effect on the band. In 1990 they released the 'Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches' album which collided with the acid house and rave movement that had swept the UK, firmly putting The Happy Mondays on the map as one of the most inspiring bands to come out of England in the early 1990s. And 30 years on from their debut album 'Squirrel And G-Man....', Shaun, Bez and the gang continue to be 24 hour party people.

The Farm

Formed in the mid-80s by former youth worker Peter Hooton. Probably best known for their anthemic hit 'All Together Now', first released in 1990 and reissued as the official England European Championships single in 2004, they're still getting on the Groovy Train today.

Northside

Northside originally formed in 1989 in Manchester amidst the scene that produced The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, The Inspiral Carpets and The Charlatans. The band split in 1992 but after the re-issue of their classic album Chicken Rhythms, in 2006, the band have reformed. With hits such as Shall We Take a Trip?, My Rising Star, and Take 5 behind them, they plan to bring a little of the late eighties, early nineties Manchester magic back to the stage.
