Back by popular demand, Prof Joe Foweraker returns on Sunday 12th October at 4pm to give us The Meaning of Life Revisited in a series of eight weekly talks. Each meeting will comprise a talk of no more than thirty minutes, leaving ample time for Q&A, and comment and conversation, following the format of the series on the Challenges of a Life Well Lived; and, like that series, will be chaired by Pip Hayes-Harris.
Each talk will offer something to intrigue and entertain ? and can stand alone. Equally, each talk contributes to a fuller understanding of what can make life meaningful.
Prof Joe will address the following questions, over the course of the eight weeks:
12 Oct: Where is meaning to be found?
19 Oct: Who is looking for meaning?
26 Oct: Is meaning a matter of morality?
2 Nov: How far does meaning depend on free will?
9 Nov: How far does meaning depend on hope?
16 Nov: Can a vocation confer meaning on life?
23 Nov: Is meaning made by ourselves or others?
30 Nov: Is meaning discovered or created?
Note that the meetings will take place at the same time, same day each week upstairs in the Arts Centre Studio (20 steps, no lift).
These will be chaired by Pip Harris, who has a background in education and community development. She is a Quaker, an environmental & peace activist, and a community facilitator.
