ADHD and autism often co-occur, commonly referred to as ‘AuDHD’, and the lived experience of AuDHD can be very different from ADHD or autism alone. But what’s actually going on in the brains of people with both autism and ADHD? Join Professor James Brown for a deep dive into the neurobiology of ADHD and the emerging evidence that AuDHD may represent a distinct brain profile, not simply a diagnostic overlap. In this talk, we will explore the shared genetic, neurological, and development roots of AuDHD, the internal conflicts it can create, and how it may be a leading pathway to burnout. We will also examine how executive function, emotion regulation, and sensory processing are influenced by real, measurable differences in brain connectivity and dynamics. Finally, we'll learn why stimulant ADHD medications can work differently, why support strategies need to be tailored, and how future research may reshape diagnosis and treatment. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! This is a 16+ event
