Owen Rees: The Far Edges of the Known World

Were the boundaries of the Greek and Roman worlds really the outer darkness? Thanks to archaeological excavations, we now know that the borders of the empires were also thriving, vibrant cultures. These are the places where rules don’t always apply, where cultures intermarry and where new norms and cities are created.
