Join BBC Radio 4’s cop-turned-comedian Alfie Moore for his brand new tour show. A fun-filled evening where he explores the law in an entirely new way. As a former police officer he’s an experienced law enforcer. At times, like most of us, he’s been frustrated when the rigid application of the law can sometimes seem to fly in the face of common sense.

From before our conception we’re subject to Universal Laws – for better or worse our parents were subject to the Law of Attraction, when we start to toddle we learn a lot about the Law of Gravity and through our childhood the Law of Cause and Effect. At home and school a parent, guardian or teacher is The Law (or at least they used to be!)

We live under the Law of the Land, a legal term enshrined in the Magna Carta. Sometimes protective, sometimes restrictive, sometimes outdated and sometimes a ridiculous donkey-sanctuary-worthy bundle of Statute and Common Laws.

Alfie effortlessly guides us through an hilarious whistle stop tour of his favourite laws -including a few that he’d pass himself given half a chance!

Alfie is an original and distinctive comedian with his niche area as a serving police sergeant. He came slightly later to comedy and brings a wealth of insights and comedy moments from his eighteen years on the beat, where a keen sense of humour has been the key to his success and survival! Born and raised on a council estate in Sheffield he was an apprentice in the steelworks before joining the Police. Early on in Alfie's career he finished runner up in a national stand-up competition and was well and truly hooked. He subsequently served a whole new apprenticeship, honing his craft at comedy clubs all over the country. Alfie has an observational comedic style, which lends itself to witty, and sometimes gritty, anecdotes based on everyday modern policing.
