Following their acclaimed post-Covid Manchester Chamber Concerts Society concert, the Brodsky Quartet return to the Stoller Hall. Having recently celebrated their 50th anniversary, the Brodsky Quartet continue to enjoy a busy international performing schedule, extensively touring the globe. The Brodsky Quartet are legendary for their performances of Shostakovich – “The performances as a whole achieve a rare degree of intensity” (BBC Music Magazine.)
The centre of this concert will be Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 9, concluding with the dramatic and unconventional semi -autobiographical String Quartet “From My Life” by Smetana
Brodsky String Quartet
Since its formation in 1972 the Brodsky Quartet has performed over 2000 concerts on the major stages of the world and released more than 50 recordings. A natural curiosity and insatiable desire to explore has propelled the group in many artistic directions and continues to ensure them not only a place at the very forefront of the international chamber music scene but also a rich and varied musical existence. The members of the Brodsky String Quartet are Daniel Rowland and Ian Belton (violins), Paul Cassidy (viola) and Jacqueline Thomas (cello).
