They played to loud applause at our last street party and we are pleased to welcome this entertaining band to the club proper.
They are: Alie Barnes (vocals) who grew up with the East Anglian Fens and the folk tradition in her blood; Emma Hardy (Fiddle/vocals) who had a classical music background; and Tom Hardy (guitar/vocals) whose wide-ranging influences include everything from folk to punk.
Their varied backgrounds bring a unique flavour to their re-imagining of traditional songs and tunes - whether these are wistful airs or merry dance tunes.
The Medlars
The Medlars are a seven piece contemporary folk band based in London. Their music is raw and rhythmically driven with orchestral and psychedelic undertones, layering melodies and harmonies to illuminate their political and socially conscious messages.
