Growing up in Jackson, Tennessee but now residing in her adopted home of Nashville, Erin Rae and the Meanwhiles walk the line between old-school folk and modern Americana, filled with pedal steel, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bright bursts of melody and plenty of space. Rae’s distinct voice has drawn comparison to a diverse range of contemporaries from Jenny Lewis and Phoebe Bridgers to 60s and 70s singer-songwriters including The Carpenters and Janis Ian. Putting On Airs released on John Paul White’s Single Lock records in 2018, is the perfect soundscape for Rae’s soothing vocals and a genre-fusing mix of indie-rock, psych-rock and folk.
