Join us for this special concert on Thursday 3rd July where we will be kicking off our programme celebrating 30 years of Jazzlive at The Crypt. Our anniversary falls in October but we begin our celebrations early with the first in a series of concerts featuring giants of the UK jazz scene.

Our first concert features the one and only bass legend Gary Crosby.

Bassist, band leader, and co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary Crosby OBE, leads his quartet for an exhilarating night of calypso, jazz, and Blue Beat.

Leader of the acclaimed Gary Crosby’s Nu Troop and founder of the mighty Jazz Jamaica, Gary’s impact and influence on the UK jazz scene spans four decades.

Through Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary has been at the heart of the recent British jazz explosion, nurturing young musical talent and increasing opportunity, diversity, and excellence in and through jazz. He is also the artistic director of the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra and, in 2018, became the 14th recipient of the prestigious Queen’s Medal for Music – the first person of colour and first non-classical musician ever to receive the award.

The quartet features Alex Ho on piano, Noah Ojumu on drums, Aleksandra Topczewska on sax and Gary Crosby of bass.

Gary first played for us back in the early days of The Crypt but his influence has been ever present. Many of the bands and musicians featured at the club are alumni of Tomorrow's Warriors.
