Edrix Puzzle is a six piece group evolved from the Planet Battagon project. What started as a studio-based project has metamophosed into an explosive and daring live ensemble. Rooted with a heavy groove foundation of bass and drums, Edrix Puzzle embarks on psychedelic explorations through jazz, electronic and ambient music.
The band will perform selections from their two albums, ‘Coming Of The Moon Dogs’ and ‘Lotus Blossom’ interspersed with free improvisations and rich kaleidoscopic soundscapes.
Tugg - drums & drum synth, Tom Mason - electric upright bass, Martin Slattery - soprano sax & bass clarinet, Oli Savill - percussion, Mickey Ball - trumpet, Johnny Tomlinson - keys & modular synth.
“…boldly going further, taking multi-coloured acoustic tones, scorching beats and synth ballistics somewhere deeper into the vortex where Sun-Ra, Mwandishi era Hancock, Richard James and other sonic outliers do magic.”
Edrix Puzzle
Edrix Puzzle is made up of percussionist Nathan ‘Tugg’ Curran alongside double bassist Tom Mason and Martin Slatery on bass clarinet and alto saxophone. Subtle in its delivery, they are reminiscent of Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi with the trio laying down a hypnotic blend of breaks, synths, bass and horns.
