A Halloween special from London’s award-winning 1920s-themed speakeasy party, with live jazz, cabaret and cocktails in a secret venue filled with candles, where everyone dresses the part.
No one liked a fancy dress party more than the racy Jazz Age crowd, so where better to celebrate the spooky season that our elegantly eerie ball? Photos and fashion plates show us that the 1920s idea of a Halloween costume was more about glamour than gore, so if you’re looking for a more refined seasonal soirée, head our way.
Leading the revels will be Ghost With the Most, Dusty Limits, with a demonic ditty and a cabaret swagger, who will introduce uncanny burlesque from that mystery of the East, Suri Sumatra. Sinister songbird Elise Roth and her band the High Spirits will be proving the Devil has all the best tunes, while mellifluous witches the Bees Knees will be spinning records by long-dead artists. There will also be a pop-up vintage jewellery store and a fortune teller to reveal what horrors lie ahead, all in a shadowy hall filled with our famous jack-o’-lanterns.
You can come just for drinks and dancing but you can also reserve a table with Champagne, or book the three-course dinner. There’s even an inclusive-drinks option. Ticket-holders receive an email two days before revealing the secret location (which is close to a tube station). So pull on your flapper dress and get ready to Charleston your way to the Witching Hour…
Dusty Limits
Dusty Limits, also known as Dorian Black, is a singer, comic and compere. He has surprised and thrilled audiences from London to New York, Dublin to Berlin with his three-octave vocal range and darkly scintillating wit. He sings everything from Cole Porter to Portishead, often with the words changed, as well as his own original songs that deal with themes of mortality, addiction and the futility of love. Usually for laughs. 'Gloriously uncensored... unabashedly eloquent' (Three Weeks) '... one of the foremost practitioners of the art of cabaret... if only the show was twice as long. Do. Not. Miss. This.' (The Scotsman).
