Morton Valence and Michael J Sheehy play an intimate live show a the Betsey Trotwood.
Morton Valence
Morton Valence have been ploughing their own genre-defying furrow for more years than they care to remember, producing 7 critically acclaimed albums along the way. Centred around the vocal pairing of Robert 'Hacker' Jessett and Anne Gilpin - 2 voices that couldn't be more different, yet more suited to each other at the same time. Jessett and Gilpin describe their music as 'urban country' and are cited on the BBC website as having recorded “the best ever single you’ve never heard of”. They were recently signed to 'Cow Pie' records and are currently collaborating with steel guitar legend BJ Cole on an 8th album.

Michael J Sheehy
Michael J. Sheehy is one of music’s best-kept secrets and a treasure to those in the know. In the early 1990's Sheehy played the North London gig circuit as a solo singer/songwriter for about 2 or 3 years and was a regular at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town. Here he met Laurence Ash and Alex Vald and in 1995 put together a band called Dream City Film Club who had a brief dalliance with 'next big thing' status. The band released a couple of albums on Beggars Banquet but broke up in 1999. Since then Sheehy has released three critically acclaimed solo albums and has been invited on tour at the personal behest of such luminaries as Kristin Hersh, Tindersticks and Ed Harcourt. More recently he has just completed a solo, six week tour of the US supporting Peter Murphy (ex Bauhaus). He has built up a dedicated following over the years boosted by the inclusion of his songs on the soundtracks of the art house film ‘Intimacy’ and the HBO drama series ‘Deadwood’.
