Japanese-Australian pianist and composer Rieko Makita invites you into a world of sound where the classical and contemporary intertwine. Described by The Arts Desk for her “opalescent subtlety and vibrant colours,” Rieko has performed live on BBC Radio 3 and appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in 2024.
In this intimate debut solo show, Rieko presents new music for piano and Korg Minilogue XD, weaving together influences from Chopin and Ravel to Ichiko Aoba and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Her ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes draw inspiration from gardens, seasons, and poetry, creating a reflective and immersive listening experience.
Set in the magically intimate and historic St Pancras Clocktower, this performance offers a rare opportunity to experience Rieko’s music up close — where stillness, nature, and imagination meet.
