Prepare for an intimate evening of award-winning blues at the South Brewing Taproom! We're thrilled to host the phenomenal Mississippi MacDonald, with a special opening performance by the talented duo Fran McGillivray and Mike Burke.
Mississippi MacDonald, a London-based singer, guitarist, and songwriter, is a true rising star in the British soul/blues scene. His passion ignited early, fueled by his parents' record collection and legends like B.B. King and Al Green, earning him the nickname "Mississippi." MacDonald's influences run deep, including Albert Collins and soulful singers like ZZ Hill and O.V. Wright. He champions soulful expression over flashy theatrics, a hallmark of his music.
MacDonald's career has steadily ascended. His 2021 album, Do Right, Say Right, garnered widespread acclaim, and his 2023 release, Heavy State Loving Blues, cemented his status as a formidable talent. This led to a transformative experience: recording his 2024 album, Mississippi MacDonald with Hi Rhythm, at Memphis's iconic Royal Sound Studios with the legendary Hi Rhythm Section, who previously backed Al Green and others. With his fluid guitar work, distinctive voice, and songwriting prowess, Oliver "Mississippi" MacDonald is a compelling new voice in British soul-blues.
Don't miss this chance to experience exceptional blues in a cozy setting!
