Hailing from Vancouver, Cate began driving down the west coast to LA to join writing sessions for her own material and pitches for other artists after graduating high school. One of these trips resulted in a serendipitous connection with fellow songwriter and artist Cian Ducrot, and an impulsive decision brought Cate and Ducrot - joined by fellow Vancouverite songwriter Tessa Mouzourakis - together in a shared flat in North London. The three co-wrote Cate’s debut EP, Love, the Madness, an honest collection of songs that explores the messy and beautiful process of coming of age and striking out on your own. Cate has since released “Can’t Wait To Be Pretty” in December of 2020, a self-love anthem that has resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have expressed how the song has helped them on their journey to loving themselves. Cate leaked her latest single, “Groupie”, on TikTok in February to an unprecedented response from fans, with thousands of comments calling for her to immediately release the full track. The song struck a chord with anyone who’s ever felt hopelessly infatuated, whether that be with a member of a famous boy band, or maybe just the boy-next-door.
