Two choreographers, five dancers and a dazzling world of mirrors
Tentacle Tribe – the Montreal company led by Canada’s Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Sweden’s Elon Höglund – slide through the doors of perception and illusion in this entrancing production.
A quintet of shape-shifting dancers move between a reflective floor and movable mirrors, their bodies multiplied over and over like a kaleidoscope. What can we grasp? What is hidden from our gaze? Opening up a myriad of possibilities and distorting perspectives, Prism is dreamlike journey with a truly hypnotic effect.
Street dance and contemporary moves meet in Lê Phan and Höglund’s collaboration. Tentacle Tribe combines their joint experience, drawing on hip hop but also the range of physicality in the animal kingdom. This innovative symbiosis of bodies and optical illusions will captivate audiences.
Tentacle Tribe create uncommon dance works with an urgent contemporary ethos. Founded in 2012, the company works on stage and film, winning the Prix de la Danse for THREESIXNINE. Tentacle Tribe are wholly committed to the development of street dance, establishing the Coro Casse festival in Quebec.
