Ferg's Imaginary Big Band
Fergus Quill's Imaginary Big Band is known for their energetic live shows and experimental arrangements. Originating as a Sun Ra tribute, they've grown into a dynamic 25+ member ensemble from the Leeds jazz scene. Their sound blends influences from Duke Ellington, Sun Ra Arkestra, Mingus Big Band, DIY Punk and film composers like Ennio Morricone. Expect mosh pits and sensitive ballads, with live compositions driven by hand signals and movements.
Fergus Quill
Fergus Quill is a composer, musician and bandleader based in Leeds, UK His projects include Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band, Fergus Quill’s Electric Noise Ensemble and the Fergus Quill Trio. With influences ranging from Sidney Bechet to Boredoms he aims to build on the cannon of 20th, 21st and 22nd century improvised music to find a way forward.
