Having bewitched audiences annually with their much-loved wintertime show, Awake Arise, two of the most engaging and inventive acts on the English folk scene Lady Maisery and Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith return with their hotly anticipated next alchemic collaboration: an essential incantation to the summertime.
Lady Maisery
Lady Maisery comprises Hazel Askew (The Askew Sisters), Rowan Rheinagans (Fidola) and Hannah James (Kerfuffle, Demon Barbers)) – a striking trio whether singing spellbinding a cappella or accompanying themselves on accordion, harp and violin. They are also one of the first groups in the UK to have revived the tradition of “diddling” or singing tunes, nearly defunct in England but still prevalent in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe.

Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith
Jimmy & Sid marry the ancient with the modern, through superb multi-instrumentalist folk. Harnessing the tradition and simplicity of beautifully rendered folk music, the duo pair their sung storytelling with a deep integrity and sincerity that stems from their passion for the social themes within the music. There is a common thread of political struggle, resistance, and justice as well as the occasional love song. Their shows manage to be both hard-hitting and uplifting, securing their reputation as two of the most exciting musicians and social commentators on the scene.
