This October, Earth Cruises presents Sunstepping, a two-day fundraiser bringing together music, political speakers, and workshops. 100% of profit raised will be donated directly to the vital work of Hackney Migrant Centre.

As far-right sentiment grows, and the only established left-wing party slides further into Tory-lite, many of us are finding ourselves politically homeless and frustrated with the state of the world. Sunstepping is about facing those frustrations head-on and turning them into action.

Over the weekend, speakers, artists and activists will come together to ask urgent questions:

How do we fight the anti-migrant rhetoric of the far right?
As climate change drives rising numbers of climate refugees, how should we respond?
What responsibilities does Britain bear, as a former and continuing colonial power, towards refugees from countries like Sudan and Palestine?
What economic truths sit underneath today’s debates on migration?
And because resistance needs joy, the weekend’s politics are grounded in music, art and community. The stage will host artists whose sounds echo resilience, creativity and diasporic richness:

Sat 25 Oct — Toya Delazy, Flock, Joshua Idehen, Matters Unknown, Maya Youssef, BODUR
Sun 26 Oct — Nabihah Iqbal, Elaha Soroor & Hazara Music, Tawiah, Rosie Frater-Taylor, Miryan Solomon, Marysia Osu & YUIS

Also expect a dose of spoken word from cult favourite Joshua Idehen, alongside community-led workshops and contributions from political speakers including Jeremy Corbyn, Zack Polanski and Zarah Sultana.

Sunstepping is about building solidarity across borders while celebrating the collective power of people. Join us.
