About the show
Lost Cause Lover Fool is a nine-song collection that extends the duo’s minimalist folk sound with banjo, percussion and choral textures, all of which will be woven into their Barbican Hall performance alongside their typically light-hearted stage presence. Marking their seventh studio release, the new album is built around stillness, interiority and the magnification of fleeting moments – using The Milk Carton Kids’ aptitude for precision and unity to do so.
Featuring
The Milk Carton Kids
The Milk Carton Kids is an indie folk duo from Eagle Rock, California, consisting of singers and guitarists Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan, who formed the group in early 2011.
NPR has described their approach to music as 'gorgeous contemporary folk' and 'Gillian Welch and David Rawlings - meets - Simon and Garfunkel with a splash of the Everly Brothers', which fairly represents the band's music while also appealing to the intended audience.

Vera Sola
Described as 'a living anachronism', with an ethereal voice and a haunting body of song, Vera Sola makes timeless, time-bending sound.
Despite a background in poetry, a career as a stage and voice actor, and years of touring in Elvis Perkins’ band, it wasn’t until early 2017 that she began to experiment with the idea of recording her own material, when a series of life-altering events reframed her relationship to music. The result was her debut album Shades, written, performed and produced entirely alone. Instruments she'd never touched, hand-made percussion of chains and breaking glass, all meticulously arranged around multi-part harmonies, bringing to the fore a newly discovered vocal skill, her otherworldly vibrato.
The result is a record both complex and sparse, lyrics full of sorrow, yet arch and wry. Poems and stories set to music, songs of the present that conjure the past.
