About the show

We’re thrilled to announce that the brilliant trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist Jackson Mathod will be the featured artist at our upcoming April Jam Session once again! Having graced the Highams Park Jazz Club stage previously, we’re delighted to welcome him back for another unforgettable evening of music.

Influenced by legends such as Miles Davis, Roy Hargrove, and Christian Scott, Jackson has quickly established himself as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging jazz artists. He is known for his energetic, groove-led performances and a versatile approach that spans trumpet, vocals, and multiple instruments, delivering music that is both deeply musical and instantly engaging.

Jackson’s debut album, Travels in a Confined Space (2021), received acclaim from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Worldwide FM, and Jazz FM, securing him a place as a rising star on the British jazz scene. His latest project, Come On Now, has continued this trajectory, garnering praise from BBC 6 Music, BBC 1Xtra, Jazz FM, Jamie Cullum, and Gilles Peterson, alongside editorial support from State of Jazz, All New Jazz, and Jazz Funk.

As well as performing as a bandleader, Jackson collaborates widely across genres, building an impressive catalogue of recordings and live performances at a young age. His music combines a respect for jazz tradition with a contemporary, accessible sound, making each performance vibrant, dynamic, and unforgettable.
