Now associated with the award-winning singer, songwriter & producer Sarah Gillespie and Sarah’s label Pastiche Records, Tamara Barschak is a pianist & singer who, along with her Kaleidoscope Quartet, “aims to offer the listener a kaleidoscopic vision of music in all its glorious harmonic colours”. While trained in classical music in both London and Paris, Tamara subsequently branched out into funk, jazz and blues. A love for Brazilian bossa nova than took her to Rio de Janeiro for three years (learning to sing in Portuguese along the way). Returning to London she released her 2022 debut “Kaleidoscope” which was described by Resonance FM as an incredible debut, calling the music “a set of lovingly crafted and really accomplished contemporary jazz-infused songs”. And, she’s also in demand as a composer for short films, adverts, animation, plays and other visual media (with her music for the short “The 2.40 to London” awarded “Best Soundtrack” at the Monkey Bread Film Festival in 2018 among numerous other commissions). Tonight we welcome Tamara & her quartet, including top UK players saxophonist and bass clarinettist Tom Smith, bassist Davide Mantovani and drummer Justin Tambini, to perform a stylish and characterful set featuring music from her first album, her upcoming EP, “Luminosity” and songs from the great Brazilian composers such as Jorge Bem, Edu Lobo & Tom Jobim.
