About the show

Originally from the UK bassist Orlando Le Fleming moved to New York in 2003 and the rest, as they say, is history. His outstanding talent was quickly recognised and over the following 20 years he found himself being first call for a host of top level players including the likes of Branford Marsalis, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Billy Cobham, Wayne Krantz, Jimmy Cobb, Seamus Blake, Jeff “Tain” Watts & Mark Turner. Now returned to the UK it’s a great pleasure to welcome Orlando back to the Club where he first “cut his teeth” as an upcoming young musician back in the early 2000’s. Tonight he will be appearing with his latest trio, featuring Tom Cawley-piano and James Maddren-drums, performing music from his latest album “Wandering Talk”, the third of his “Romantic Funk” records. This show will focus more on the softer, acoustic, side with original music and beautiful renditions of standards shrouded in subtle rhythmic shifts. Special gig this.

"Mr le Fleming serves as the band’s grounding force” New York Times; “Le Fleming’s compositions change texture, tempo and mood, conjoining narrative twists into an overarching form” Financial Times; "Raw, exciting, authentic and vital." ★★★★ The Jazz Mann; "Superb... a fresh mix of energy, intelligence and groove" Jazz’n’More; “An outstanding bassist” WBGO
