Antifolk pioneer and New York underground legend Lach is bringing his raw, unfiltered energy back to Hobo Kiosk as part of a bold UK summer tour that’s turning heads, not through social media hype, but entirely without it.
The founder of the Antifolk movement, a music and art scene that has influenced thousands of artists, including the likes of Beck, Regina Spektor, and Jeffrey Lewis, Lach delivers live performances that are equal parts punk, poetry, comedy, and catharsis. His shows are spontaneous, funny, emotionally honest, and musically fearless.
“Lach is great!” -Bob Dylan
“Lach is incredibly bright, influential, funny, and poetic.” -Suzanne Vega
“Lach is a beat-punk-unplugged joy, and likely to send you home with several favourite new songs.” -The Guardian
In a deliberate move away from platforms like Facebook and Instagram, Lach is relying on a radical old-school approach: word of mouth, genuine press, and the passion of people who believe in art that exists outside the algorithm. Liverpool fans get the rare opportunity to be part of this cultural experiment firsthand.
For Liverpool gig-goers seeking something outside the mainstream, this show offers a unique chance to experience a true original who founded a whole scene, and who’s now challenging the very systems that dominate the current music landscape.
No algorithms. Just songs, stories, and a room full of real people.
Legendary founder of the international Antifolk movement with six critically ecstatic albums released. The star of BBC Radio 4's series The Lach Chronicles. (Top Radio Pick in The Times, Observer, Telegraph, Independent, Daily Mail and Radio Times!) "Roots of modern songwriting: Dylan, Barrett, Drake and Lach!" - Time Out London / "Lach is a very intelligent songwriter, funny, poetic. He became part of New York folklore."-Suzanne Vega "Lach is a beat-punk-unplugged joy!"-The Guardian UK
