Join Bob for an evening of unbridled 1980s nostalgia. Diary readings, hilariously wonky photos, terrible drawings and - providing everyone behaves themselves - Mr Andrew Johnson will be leading the assembly choir with school hymns and chart hits from all your favourite groups.

Bob Fischer is a writer and a radio presenter from Teesside. He spent two decades ambling around the schedules of BBC Radio Tees, and has also worked for BBC 6 Music and Radio 4 Extra. His book Wiffle Lever To Full! was an acclaimed travelogue of cult TV conventions published by Hodder & Stoughton, and he writes regularly for magazines that include Fortean Times, Electronic Sound and the official Doctor Who Magazine. He indulges his love of creepy old films and telly as the founder of The Haunted Generation website and the host of the touring Scarred For Life theatre show.

Bob Fischer

In early 1980s Middlesbrough, Daleks were on every street corner. And so were Klingons, Vogons and crack Imperial Stormtroopers. At least that's how it seemed to Bob Fischer, a grubby, wide-eyed eight-year-old growing up in front of the telly. Three decades later, Bob decided to rekindle his love affair with all things sci-fi by taking off on a freewheeling tour of the UK's cult TV and film conventions. From Doctor Who to Discworld, from Star Wars to Star Trek and Robin of Sherwood to Red Dwarf, Bob combines misty-eyed childhood memories with a terrifying travelogue of terrible, torturous... terror. Or something. Bob turned his adventures into 'Wiffle Lever To Full!' - an acclaimed book published by Hodder & Stoughton.
