Introverted 16-year-old Lucia has had a sheltered upbringing. She joins her Catholic school's all-girls choir, where she befriends Ana-Maria, a popular and flirty older student, and is suddenly caught up in the older girls’ candid discussions of their sexual exploits. When the choir travels to a countryside convent in northern Italy for a weekend of intensive rehearsals, Lucia's interest in a dark-eyed construction worker tests her friendship with Ana-Maria and the other girls in her new and exciting social circle. As she navigates unfamiliar surroundings and her own budding sexuality, Lucia begins to question her beliefs and values, disrupting the harmony within the choir.
