About the show

The evening begins with writer, professional herbal storyteller, and practitioner with a background in herbal medicine, Amanda Edmiston.

Amanda invites you into other worlds through stories rich with history, folklore, and the often-forgotten wisdom of the natural environment. Her immersive storytelling engages all the senses, gently uncovering truths that can fade from everyday awareness.

Next, we welcome Conrad Bird - singer and songwriter from cult folk-rock outfit Holy Moly & The Crackers - stepping into his solo work with a sound that is dust-worn and road-tested.

We close the evening with Joshua Arnold and Therine - a drone folk duo from the North West.

Joshua performs on hurdy gurdy, electric upright bass, guitars, and DIY instruments, alongside Therine on vocals, harmonium, and drums. Together, they create droning, instrumentally eclectic interpretations of songs from the British folk canon.

Their performances explore themes of the dark and macabre, dense beat-heavy versions of historic tunes, and original experimental folk. Their work includes historically inspired charms and prayers from their debut concept album, centred on the Lancashire witch trials of 1612.
