About the show

Ella, (joined by pianist Katharine May), will be performing song from her debut album, Lemon Verbena, a co-creation with poet Jo Brandon, which explores the lives of legendary women throughout history who used various eccentricities to escape the confines of society. Lemon Verbena is an eclectic showcase of Ella’s classical, folk and jazz background and Jo’s experience of writing-back historical figures. The eight tracks on Lemon Verbena are all inspired by incredible women including Julian of Norwich, Margery Kempe, Julie d'Aubigny, Mary Toft, Jacquotte Delahaye, Ursula K. Le Guinn and many anonymous wise women, whose stories will also be shared during the performance.
