In this festive show, the duo pay homage to the great guitar double bass duos like Joe Pass + NHOP and Pat Metheny + Charlie Haden.

Expect a repertoire that shifts gracefully between evocative arrangements of traditional solstice tunes, original compositions, and all with a touch of festive cheer.

Aidan Thorne is best known as the leader of the Cardiff based quintet Duski, whose two albums “Duski” (2016) and “Make a Wish” (2020) received great acclaim. Weirdshire audiences will also be very aware of the lovely acoustic duo work Aidan has been doing with Toby Hay.

Will Barnes has performed with the likes of?Gary Potter, Frank Vignola, Dan Cassidy, Alan Barnes and John Etheridge. Having toured extensively with Classical/Jazz crossover group “Gypsy Fire” Will has performed sell-out shows at some of the UK’s top theatres, clubs and festivals including Ronnie Scott's, 606 Club, Royal Albert Hall, Brecon Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and the International Gypsy Guitar Festival. Will also regularly performs throughout Europe, both with his own ensembles and as a sought-after session guitarist.

This promises to be just the thing to set us up for the solstice!
