From Where We Stand Film Screening

Join us for a special showing of the moving post-Brexit documentary From Where We Stand, a one-hour portrait of people and places in the North of England, that was developed as part of a sociological project, Northern Exposure, at the University of Leeds.

With a sensitive, revealing, yet sometimes jarring feel for the everyday life and concerns of its characters, Lucy Kaye takes us to Middlesbrough, Wakefield and Halifax in search of insights into the region. She finds potent stories of memory and hope, frustration and mutual support, in complicated localities that have been turned into clichÚs by politicians' and journalists' talk of "heartland anger", "red walls collapsing" and "left behind places".
