About the show
n 1966, Bob Dylan toured the UK. Each night began with a solo acoustic set, before Dylan returned to the stage backed by a full electric band. Some in the audience loved the change; others did not. At the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, one voice rang out above the rest, famously shouting “Judas!” Dylan’s response was immediate and legendary: “I don’t believe you!” — before instructing the band to play louder.
Exactly years to the day, The Bob Villains mark this iconic moment in music history, with a sepcial show at The Tree House, Frome. This is truly one not to miss.
Covering Dylan’s career from his early 1960s acoustic work, through the electric years and his many stylistic reinventions, The Bob Villains have spent over a decade presenting his music with the respect and depth it deserves. These five musicians capture the spirit, power, and poetry of Dylan’s songs without gimmicks or imitation.
Their extensive repertoire includes favourites such as Mr Tambourine Man, All Along the Watchtower, Forever Young, Like a Rolling Stone, Hurricane, One More Cup of Coffee, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, Quinn the Eskimo, Lay Lady Lay and You’re a Big Girl Now, alongside deeper cuts from the Dylan songbook including It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding), Chimes of Freedom and Silvio.
This year also marks 60 years since the release of the iconic double album Blonde on Blonde, with a selection of songs from that record featured in the show.
With Dylan still touring in his 80s, we are prou
