Stuart Murdoch, frontman of the legendary Belle and Sebastian, comes to Frome for a rare and intimate evening of stripped-back performances of his most cherished songs. He’ll also be joined by BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins for an exclusive conversation, reflecting on his remarkable career and celebrating the release of his debut novel, Nobody’s Empire.
This special event offers a rare opportunity for fans to experience Stuart Murdoch performing in an up-close setting, stripping his songs back to their raw, emotional core. It’s also a chance to hear him reflect on his journey as the frontman of one of indie pop’s most influential and enduring bands, Belle and Sebastian, from their formation in Glasgow to international acclaim, and their lasting impact on alternative music.
Joining Stuart in conversation is BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins, who has interviewed some of the biggest names in music, including Calvin Harris, The Killers, Florence Welch, Dave Grohl, Björk, and Jack White. Together, they’ll explore the stories behind the songs, the creative process, and the moments that have defined Stuart’s extraordinary career.
The evening will also celebrate the release of Stuart’s debut novel, Nobody’s Empire; a deeply personal, lyrical work inspired by his own experiences, creative struggles, and spiritual journey. This is a rare and revealing encounter with one of the UK’s most distinctive and cherished songwriters.
