The Divine Comedy

Neil Hannon's band has been through several changes of style and line-up since their 1990 debut EP. Although the original band split up shortly after their second release, Neil continued as a singer/songwriter and released two more low-key albums in 1994, still under the name The Divine Comedy. The band's breakthrough came in 1995 when Neil wrote the theme tune to the hit TV comedy Father Ted and Chris Evans played their new track, Something For The Weekend, on his breakfast radio show. The song became a hit, as did their next two singles: Becoming More Like Alfie and The Frog Princess. Since then The Divine Comedy have gone from strength to strength, known for their superb indie and baroque tinged pop songs and innovative live performances.
