Musical Picnics are warm, eclectic and diverse musical performances for children, parents and families, welcoming everyone from the local community, featuring an imaginative programme of artists, educators, musicians, instruments, styles, approaches, cultures and personalities from across the UK and beyond.

Brought together in a friendly and relaxed space, Musical Picnics are original participatory performances led by new musicians and artists each month, helping children and families to absorb, interact and fall in love with the incredible world of music and performance.

Step into an unforgettable performance with Suntou Susso, a captivating singer, performer and master of the kora - the 22-string West African harp whose sounds have enchanted listeners and carried the soul of Mandinka culture for over seven centuries. Born into a revered lineage of Gambian Griots: historians, storytellers and peacekeepers, Suntou is both a guardian of the tradition and a bold innovator of its future. Rooted in the ancient rhythms and spiritual depth of his heritage, Suntou's music is a bridge between worlds.

Following three years of constant touring and creative exploration since the release of his debut album, Suntou returns with the highly anticipated second album to be released in November. Audiences can expect original compositions and reimagined traditional pieces, reflecting his evolved and elevated sound, grounded in ancestral wisdom yet alive with contemporary expression.

Suntou Susso is a multi-instrumentalist: Kora player, percussionist, singer and composer from The Gambia. Born a Griot in a 700-year old tradition, the Kora - harp-lute with 22 strings - is unique to the Griots of the Mandinka people. Griots have a unique societal role as oral historians, transmitting and preserving a people's culture through the generations in song, music and poetry. Suntou's family includes some of the world's most well-respected West African musicians, including Seckou Keita, Solo Cissokho and Sura and Mamudou Susso.
