Anita Harris has been amongst the nation’s favourite performers since her glittering career took off in the 1960s. From Carry On films to top ten records, from the Albert Hall to Las Vegas, from Eastenders to the Royal Variety Show, this lady really has done it all. Anita will treat us to heartfelt songs and anecdotes from her extraordinary life. Joining Anita will be the hilarious Micky Zany. Described as ‘the comedian’s comedian’, Micky is a powerhouse of humour, polished yet spontaneous, and guaranteed to have every audience rocking with laughter. Sublime singer Katie Ashby is a familiar face on our TV screens as the founder and charismatic lead vocalist of The D-Day Darlings. Today we’ll enjoy a rare solo appearance with a selection of her favourite musical numbers. At the piano is maestro Pete Gill. As well as regularly accompanying Anita, Pete is known for his solo act, specialising in boogie-woogie, blues and rock ‘n’ roll. As always, Midday Variety is devised and presented by multi-talented musician Andy Eastwood, who has pleasure in bringing together some of his very favourite artists for this unique afternoon of music, mirth and memories. Anita Harris is an actress, singer and entertainer. She sang with the Cliff Adams Singers and had a number of chart hits in the 1960s. She also appeared in the Carry On films Follow That Camel and Carry On Doctor.
She has never stopped performing and has worked alongside legendary names in the world of entertainment such as Harry Secombe, Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, magician David Nixon, Sid James, Kenneth Williams and Clive Dunn.
Andy Eastwood has dazzled audiences worldwide with his skill on the ukulele-banjo, violin and guitar. He combines showmanship, humour and musical prowess in a fast-moving variety act that includes styles from classical to rock & roll... Andy can usually be found touring Britain's major theatres, but if not there he will be performing his one-man show in cabaret, at corporate events, or on board a luxury cruise liner. He appeared regularly as support act for the legendary comedian Ken Dodd for sixteen years, and has television, radio and film credits to his name. As a producer, Andy presents the touring variety show 'Those Were The Days' and the popular matinee series 'Midday Variety' at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry. He also performs regularly on the ukulele festival circuit at home and abroad.
Musician and actor known for his high energy portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis, his boogie woogie, rock n roll and swing performances, his musical comedy shows including Tom Lehrer and Noel Coward and also for his writing and performances such as in the World War One play 'Meet Tommy Atkins'.
Katie Ashby is best known as the lead singer and founder of the D-Day Darlings, who shot to fame on Britain's Got Talent, and have been regulars on our TV screens ever since.
Recently she performed at the Royal Albert Hall, paying tribute to the legendary Dame Vera Lynn.
