2006 – Children of Men (15) Children of Men was nominated for best adapted screenplay at the Oscars. A dystopian action thriller based on the 1992 novel of the same name by P D James. When infertility threatens mankind with extinction and the last child born has perished, a disillusioned bureaucrat (Clive Owen) becomes the unlikely champion in the fight for the survival of Earth's population; He must face down his own demons and protect the planet's last remaining hope from danger. “Classic dystopian British science fiction that draws powerful and moving parallels to the state of the world”. Matthew De Abaitua – Film4 Starring: Clive Owen; Julianne Moore; Chiwetel Ejiofor; Michael Caine; Charlie Hunnam Directed by Alfonso Cuaron Running Time 109 minutes Local Link: Charlie Hunnam was born in Newcastle but moved to Melmerby when he was 12 and attended QEGS in Penrith. His first acting role was in Newcastle-based Byker Grove when he was 17 followed by a role in Channel 4’s Queer as Folks at the age of 18. He then went to the Cumbria College of Art and Design in Carlisle (now part of the University of Cumbria) to study performing arts.
